HEI, Inc. has an opening at their Victoria, MN facility for a full-time Operations Manager. This position reports to the Vice President General Manager and will work closely with Quality Assurance, Process Engineering, Front-End Engineering, Procurement & Production Control/Scheduling, Shipping & Receiving, Accounting, External Customers, and Senior Management. This position is responsible for determining, securing, and assigning resources (human and equipment) necessary to meet the demand profile of HEI-Victoria's customer base. Resource allocation and deployment is to be in a such a manner as to meet on-time delivery requirements of the customers and the lead-time expectations competitive in the marketspace. He/She will work collaboratively and work to continuously improve the work environment and work ethic and habits of the production employees. Takes initiative with engineering to assure first pass and final pass yields are meeting or exceeding both internal and external/customer expectations. Plans overall productive resources to assure that revenue and quality targets are met on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Provides monthly oversight and management of the appropriate budgets and assures facilities and related equipment meet production and operating safety standards.
 
PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
·         Management Representative
o        Develops and supports senior management strategic initiatives on the manufacturing floor
o        Supports and exhibits the Corporate Values and Mission reinforcing these values through actions
o        Assures for alignment of manufacturing objectives and metrics with identified corporate and division goals
o        Conducts manufacturing overviews, facility tours, and presentations as requested and needed for customers, Board Members, senior leadership, and others
·         Manufacturing Management & Supervision
o        Responsible for assuring sufficient resources based on demand and allocation of resources on multiple shifts in accomplishing the daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly manufacturing output
o        Assures for efficient flow of product through the manufacturing process working in close collaboration with production scheduling to meet on-time delivery targets and customer expectations
o        Demonstrates understanding, command, and deployment of lean, six sigma, and theory of constraints manufacturing methods and tools for management of the manufacturing operations and continuous improvement initiatives
o        Provides leadership and accountability in the implementation and maintenance of lean manufacturing techniques establishing and setting a culture of continuous improvement
o        Owns processes and related equipment sets that ensure production and delivery of quality, cost-effective devices meeting customer expectations
o        Manages and controls department expenditures according to the established budget and business levels. Conducts a periodic review of variances with accounting and division leadership
o        Assure consistent adherence to work rules and guidelines. Establish work hours and schedules to meet the manufacturing and customer requirements
o        Conducts timely performance evaluations both formally and informally for direct reports
·         Manufacturing Floor Quality Culture and Quality System Adherence
o        Drives discipline and adherence to the Quality Management System requirements and supporting process and procedures supporting the delivery of quality devices
o        Responsible for timely closure of non-conformances, preventative actions, and identified continuous improvement initiatives with the support of process engineering
o        Establish and maintain employee discipline with regards to procedures, guidelines and practices assuring consistency across all shifts and work areas
·         Continuous Improvement
o        Identifies opportunities for continuous improvement and prioritizes initiatives in cooperation with engineering to improve product flow, first time and final yields, cost reduction, and improved through-put
o        Supports and fosters an environment of continuous improvement by encouraging the manufacturing team to challenge existing processes and methods to increase overall effectiveness as measured by yield improvements, through-put, and cost reduction
·         Facilities Management
o        Responsible for contingency management in the event of power loss to assure equipment and facility infrastructure is returned to normal operating conditions as soon as possible
o        Maintains, reviews, and periodically updates the contingency plan
o        Works with engineering and quality to coordinate preventative maintenance is carried out according to established time schedules and to assure compliance with equipment requirements and the quality management system
·         Other duties as assigned
 
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
·         Demonstrated knowledge of state-of-the-art manufacturing methods driving continuous improvement such as lean, six sigma, and theory of constraints
·         Proven experience in implementing such as immediately above to drive accomplishment of quality, output, and yield goals in conjunction with business and customer expectations
·         Understanding of Design For Manufacturability as well as reliability and testing protocols to support engineering initiatives
·         Demonstrated budget management and variance analysis resulting in actionable efforts to proactively manage to achieve financial goals
·         Proven experience and success in a high mix manufacturing environment
·         Leadership skills demonstrated should be but not limited to motivation, cooperation, direction, priority setting, performance monitoring, collaboration, planning, execution, and superior communication in both written, oral, and presentation formats
·         Creative problem solver with a track record of achieving results both individually, through participation on teams and through team leadership
·         Strong interpersonal skills with direct reports, peers, and senior management. Ability to work collaboratively and in an environment with rapid decision making, business expansion, and work loads
·         Skilled in examining and re-engineering operations. Evaluate procedures; identify improvements to processes and procedures
·         Demonstrated work history of balancing production line/operations working closely with production scheduling. Periodically, conducts capacity planning with production control to assess equipment and production worker requirements. Conducts line balancing assessments against the capacity plan on a regular basis
·         Proficient with MSOffice Applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
 
BACKGROUND/EDUCATION:
·         Bachelors Degree
·         Minimum of 5 years manufacturing shift supervision or plant manufacturing management
·         Demonstrated manufacturing management experience in a lean manufacturing environment
·         Preferred minimum of 5 years of manufacturing management or supervisory experience in an electronics hybrid assembly environment
·         Preferred experience in working with SAP

·         ESD work environment and controls
